A Mother of 2

Well, at least we're not outnumbered yet. Wait, I didn't mean to say "yet" and give you the impression that we'll be having any more kids. This is it, 1 girl and 1 boy. It's like the perfect nuclear family, right?

But now I'm adjusting to seeing myself as a mother of 2. Before Jack our family unit was little more unconventional. We could easily find a babysitter for 1 cute little girl. We could comfortably fit into our Kia Spectra with all of our luggage in tow. We all had our own bedroom.

Now our family unit could easily justify a mini van (eek!). No one would fault me if I started wearing "mom jeans" (AHH!). And common sense tells me it's time to trade in my cute 4-inch heels for some sensible shoes to run around with the kids in (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!).

OK, well maybe my husband would object to the "mom jeans."

I don't want 2 kids to mean that life as I know it is over, as so many have lovingly suggested. We sacrifice for our children, yes, but not at the cost of who we are.

So, I'm accepting it - I'm a mother of 2. And if someday I find myself saying..."but those minivans are so spacious..." , then so be it.

And if someday you spot me at the grocery store in my "mom jeans" and a sensible pair of loafers -

-then please give me a good knock upside the head and get me some retail therapy stat because my kids have driven me insane. I love my beautiful children dearly, but I will never give up my shoes.

you're so funny! It's inevitable that soon, in some circles, (if not already) you'll be known as Madelyns mom, or Jack's mom. Or Mike's wife... Hang on to a circle where you're just Beki. xo

Nooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! DON'T give up the cute 4 inch heels!

You're such an awesome mom, and I can't see you losing yourself. You're a strong woman, and your kids will respect you for that.

You know ~ they do makes some really nice minivans :)

I don't own a minivan I own a grocery holder! Also I'll make sure your dressing cute if you do the same for me (not that I'm opposed to wearing the shorts and tee shirts when I'm sweating out side with the kids jut not to dinner and the movies with my husband.)
